Bringing Canadian History to Life with Virtual Reality
We are producing an entertaining, animated, short video demonstration of our proposed augmented reality website which shows the viewer navigating through an historic 3D reconstruction of St. Catherines downtown in the year 1887 and interacting with historical in that town.
We offer the viewer a unique immersive experience in one of Canada’s most important points of freedom on the Underground Railroad, with historically researched accurate storytelling and architecture, and provide an interactive portal to more learning materials associated with A Black Peoples History of Canada (BPHC) website and interactive database.
Our project, if our funding application in June is successful, will collaborate with Brock University’s David Brown in the Geography Department to be a part of the guidetags.ca website, which is connected internationally to many fields of interest, from tourism, history, natural resources, and government services. We will partner with A Black peoples History of Canada to build a “Black Niagara” website and augmented reality learning portal. Check out the preliminary mock-ups of the project, our Proof of Concept Demo Video.
